Day 1  Take the morning train to Edinburgh Waverley from your local station. You're staying at the 3 star Ibis Edinburgh Centre South Bridge, which gives you an en–suite room and free Wi–Fi plus Scottish breakfast, and is only 5 minutes' walk from Waverley Station, right in the city's old town. The hotel is also very close to Edinburgh Castle, the Festival Theatre, Grassmarket and the Museum of Edinburgh, and you have the day at your leisure to explore the shops and the sights. Check–in is at 2pm but if you want you can leave your bags at reception beforehand, and return to the hotel when you're ready for your overnight stay.

Day 2  Start the day with a full Scottish breakfast, then your time is at leisure to explore Edinburgh until it's time to make your way to the station for your train in the mid / late afternoon.
